Mother’s Day is near, and I am reminiscing about my recent trip to Europe with my mother.

I don’t often travel with my mom. However, this was an unexpected trip, and we ended up staying abroad for close to four weeks.

Visiting my grandparent’s old land, my mom became my traveling buddy. And I became her chauffeur since I was the one driving.

It’s not every day that I get a chance to talk about family history for extended periods, but during that trip, we had plenty of time to do just that. So during the warm summer evenings, we would sit around a pile of old photos and talk about family history.

We even made a bon voyage fire and roasted sausages over the hot flames while watching the sunset. I soon discovered that I am terrible at building fires of any kind large or small, but my mom, thankfully, is good at it. Please don’t tell anyone that I burned the potatoes you supposed to bake in the fire after the flames are gone. Upps!

The trip was terrific, and it was an excellent opportunity for me to get closer to my mother and spend a lot of quality time together. Not sure when I will get the next chance to do that – as we all live busy lives.

This month, while celebrating Mother’s Day, don’t forget to spend some time with your mom. She is waiting.

Tell me: what special thing did you do with your mother recently?
